The ability to generate a pluripotent, self renewing and expandable cell population from any genetic background holds enormous promise for drug discovery through disease and toxicology models.
Fate is currently deploying its proprietary, award-winning iPSC product platform to generate large quantities of high-quality iPSCs from human primary cells, where these iPSCs have the ability to be differentiated into any cell type of interest. In addition, Fate has developed proprietary media and methods for growing, maintaining, sorting and single-cell passaging iPSCs in preparation for high-throughput screening. Using its proprietary iPSC technology, Fate has created a world-class, industrialized platform that enables the faithful recapitulation of human physiology and potential for the creation of personalized cell therapies.
In September 2010, Fate and Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) entered into an exclusive partnership to co-develop certain reagents using Fate’s award-winning iPSC technology platform. The goal of the collaboration is to provide life science researchers and the pharmaceutical community with reliable access to advanced iPSC tools and technologies for use in human disease research, drug discovery and development, and the manufacture of cell-based therapies.
