What is CAR T-Cell Therapy?

A T cell is a type of white blood cell that normally helps protect your body from infections and disease.

A chimeric antigen receptor or “CAR” is similar to a specialized tracking device that a T cell can use to locate and destroy specific, diseased cells in the body. The process of creating a T cell with a CAR occurs in a lab.

Once assembled, the CAR T cell is delivered to the patient to treat a specific disease. Fate is developing a CAR T-cell therapy to treat various types of autoimmune diseases and cancers.

Advantages of CAR T-cell Therapy over Standard of Care Therapies

Precise
CAR T cells are designed to target only the disease-causing cells

Living Medicine
Once infused, CAR T cells have the potential to keep working for months or even years

Potential for Long-Lasting Remission
For some patients, a single treatment may be enough to put their disease into long-term control.

Treatment Made Easy: Making Cell Therapies Accessible to All™

We Understand Your Time, Safety, and Comfort Matter.

Our team at Fate Therapeutics has designed a CAR T-cell therapy with these priorities in mind. This investigational therapy is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials and has not been approved, but it is being developed with the goal of making treatment more accessible, less disruptive, and focused on patient safety.

Your safety is out top priority

Some CAR T-cell therapies require collecting and modifying a patient’s own cells, which can take several weeks before treatment begins. Our investigational approach is different. Our treatment is prepared in advance and available at the clinic so you can begin treatment without delays.
